LEARN MUSIC ONLINE

Long-distance private piano and music theory lessons, one-on-one with an experienced teacher.

Are online music lessons right for me?

An online class can be the best option for autonomous students who:

  • live far away from a qualified teacher

  • temporarily cannot attend regular studio classes

  • prefer to learn from the comfort of their home

Which courses are available?

All courses are based on the syllabus of the Royal Conservatory of Music.

  • Grade 5-8 Rudiments

  • Grade 9, 10 and ARCT Harmony and Counterpoint

  • ARCT Analysis

  • Piano, all levels

Which materials/software do I need?

How long are the lessons and how much do they cost?

  • Private lessons, piano or theory:

    • 60 minutes: $ 45.00

    • 45 minutes: $ 35.00

  • Group theory classes (60 minutes, 3 student maximum)

    • 2 participants: $ 35.00 pp

    • 3 participants: $ 25.00 pp

  • Fees include correction of assigned homework

How effective are online piano lessons?

Studio piano lessons, conducted in person with an experienced teacher, are the gold standard. Online piano lessons can be effective when used in alternation with studio lessons or as a temporary means to continue regular lessons when circumstances prevent coming to the studio. Unfortunately, sound quality transmission is compromised over the Internet, and pedagogical approaches often require physical presence. That being said, with a well-placed camera and a decent microphone, much can be taught effectively online, including hand position, piano technique, accuracy, rhythm, memorization, scales, chords and arpeggios, etc.
